Our Curriculum

We are committed to provide a high quality of care and the delivery of a sound foundation for every child in a range of programs in the centre. We actively promote school readiness and achievements of desired learning outcomes in applying our knowledge in how children learn through play.

Our learning environment is designed to develop curiosity and to develop the relationships that are important in children’s lives. We encourage a space which allows children to feel safe, respected and valued as unique individuals. We encourage children to communicate, act responsibility and to actively participate in our community.

At Monash Vale Early Learning Centre, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional education and early learning experiences in an inclusive welcoming environment. We honour and nurture the cultural heritage of our Indigenous ancestors the Boonwurrung people. Through play-based projects, we strive to foster a strong sense of self-confidence and independence in our young learners.

We are dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive environment where children can thrive, giving parents confidence that their children are well cared for and are in safe hands.

Inquiry based projects

Our centre is based on the belief that children learn best through play-based theories. Our curriculum incorporates these approaches to provide the best possible learning environment for children. In addition to our play-based curriculum, we also offer a range of additional programs such as STEM activities, music and movement, outdoor play and more. We aim to be a leading provider of early childhood education.  We are dedicated towards providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment for all children.

A great example of one of our inquiry projects involved helping our Pre-School children understand the concept of Caring for Country while learning about the Boon Wurrung people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our service is located. Over weeks, the children engaged in a variety of holistic led teachings learning about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The children were fascinated in the teaching of Bundjil and Waa the Creator Spirits of the land which led to the children creating their own stop motion video retelling the story of the Story of Bundjil.

At Monash Vale Early Learning Centre, our strength lies in the active and engaged community of learners we have fostered. We value each child’s knowledge, strengths, ideas, culture, abilities, and interests. The educational program captures the child’s voice and empowers children to be independent learners while exploring their environments. The curriculum and program is based on the organisation’s vision, values and philosophy statement. The foundation of the program lies in an emergent curriculum which provides family centred practices that encourages community involvement.

Monash Vale ELC is a multicultural and multilingual service. We cultivate deep respect for our children, families and broader community. We regularly reflect upon meaningful engagement practices, such as using home-language with children joining the service.

We frequently host incursions featuring experts in fields such as science, drama, music, and the arts, who come to our service to inspire imagination and enhance the children’s learning. These incursions cover topics such as sustainability, road safety, healthy eating, wildlife, STEM, school readiness and culture.

3 and 4 Year Old Kindergarten 

Our 3 Year Old Government Funded Kinder Program:

At Monash Vale ELC, our Government approved 3 Year Old Kindergarten program is delivered by Bachelor qualified and VIT registered Early Childhood Teachers. The program is designed to support children’s early foundational learning and development. The program aims to support children’s cognitive, social, physical, language and emotional development.

Our 4 Year Old Government Funded Preschool Program:

At Monash Vale ELC, our government approved 4 Year Old Kindergarten program is delivered by Bachelor qualified and VIT registered Early Childhood Teachers. The program is designed to provide children with intentional learning experiences transitioning your child to primary school.
