When you arrive at the centre, please sign your child/ren into the allocated attendance tablet located in the foyer. This is used as a tool for an emergency and is also used for CCS purposes. When you arrive to pick your child up from the centre, please let the educators know that you are taking your child and sign them out.
All educators are qualified to work at Monash Vale ELC and hold a minimum Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
The team is trained in First Aid, CPR, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Food Handlers and Child Protection. The leadership team and educators in the pre-kinder, three-year-old kindergarten room and preschool hold a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
At Monash Vale ELC our government approved 3-Year-old Kindergarten program is delivered by Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers.
The program is designed to support the children’s early foundational learning and development. The program aims to support children’s cognitive, social, physical, language and emotional development. The four-year-old program is designed to provide children with intentional learning experiences and transitioning children to primary school.

After the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to fill out a waitlist form. You can join the waitlist before your baby is born.
The waitlist is attended to monthly or when a vacancy opens. The waitlist is assessed a month before your requested enrolment date. Positions are offered according to the days requested, your child’s age and availability in the room/centre. Families are contacted when a vacancy becomes available.
The first-time attending childcare and kindergarten can be a new experience for both the child and the parents, sometimes this is the first experience for your child to be separated from you. To overcome separation anxiety, we want to make the transition as smooth as possible and ensure we work collaboratively with families to assist children to feel safe, learn and grow in their new environment.
Orientation will take place before your child’s first day; they will also explore the space and engage in activities with their peers and meet their educators and teachers. Orientation plays an important role in the settling process of your child and provides opportunity to get to know your family.
Open communication with educators is crucial. Keep in mind that children are often more resilient than we realise, and our team is just a phone call away. We’re here to support your entire family, offering guidance, knowledge, and advice throughout the transition period.
Our recommended steps ensure each child’s transition is a successful and positive one and helps provide families with some reassurance and support during the early stages of transition.
Orientation 1:
During the first orientation, we invite you to join us in the room for 1 hours with your child. During this time, your child can explore and engage in the play spaces, whilst one of our team members gets to know you and your family. We will go discuss the curriculum, routines and get to know your child and their needs.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about what you’ll need to prepare and to gain clarity on any questions you may have.Educators and families will have a chance to exchange valuable information about their child, preferences, needs and habits.
Orientation 2:
During the second orientation, you will pass on any relevant information to your child’s educator and allow them to participate in the program and become familiar with the other children and educators.
Orientation 3:
During orientation three your child will stay at the centre in their room for half a day. This will allow for them to build on relationships they have formed in the first two orientations. The educators will begin to introduce the child into the current curriculum.

We actively seek and encourage families to be involved in our service. This can range from evaluating and providing input to your child’s program and observations or sharing skills and experiences that the children and the program will benefit from.

Monash Vale ELC established a Family and Children’s Advisory committee in January 2018, this brings together parents and family members with broad and diverse knowledge and experience of issues relating to families and children.
The FCAC in an important contact between MVELC management, educators, children, families and the community.
Breakfast, Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon tea and a light snack for supper. Milk, water and S26 formula are provided throughout the day. We do have children who have allergies/anaphylaxis to different food such as nuts, egg and dairy.
We appreciate your understanding for no food or drinks to be brought into the centre.
A general rule of thumb is to pack anything your child might need during a regular day at home.
– Spare Clothes: Please provide at least two sets of spare pants and t-shirts suitable for all weather conditions.
– Sun Smart Hat: A wide-brimmed hat approved for sun safety to protect the face and neck during sunny seasons.
– Comfort Items: If your child uses them, bring dummies, comfort toys, and sleepy sacks.
– Milk Bottles: For Nursery children, bring empty milk bottles unless you provide breast milk or an alternative formula to S26. In that case, hand the milk and bottle to the educator and sign the bottle handover form daily.
– Water Bottle: This helps us monitor your child’s water intake throughout the day.
– Allergy or Asthma Medication: If your child has allergies or asthma, we will discuss an action plan, policies, and risk minimization during enrollment. You can leave necessary medications such as Ventolin, antihistamines, or an EpiPen at the service.
– Nappy Rash Cream: If required, please complete a long-term medication form to authorize educators to apply nappy rash cream as required. The center does not provide cream due to hygiene reasons.
– Rain Gear: Raincoats and gumboots are recommended for rainy days.
The educators will communicate with you when you pick up your child. Monash Vale uses an online portfolio and communication app called Story Park app. You will have access to this soon after commencing.
As a sun-safe organisation we provide child-friendly sunscreen, however if your child has sensitive skin, please feel free to provide your preferred brand.
The sun smart website is checked daily, if the UV rays are above 3, sunscreen is applied every two hours and broad brimmed hats are to be worn. If the UV is above 3 and your child has no hat, they are to play in the shade for the day.
Dr Chan attends Monash Vale Early Learning Centre every Wednesday morning from 10.00/10.30 (excluding term holidays).
Dr Chan is a GP who attends early childhood settings to provide check-ups, vaccinations and scripts
From the 1st of January 2018, all children attending MVELC will need to be fully up to date with their immunisations, or be on a catch-up schedule, or have a medical exemption to be enrolled.
It is your responsibility to provide the centre with updated immunisation records. If an outbreak occurs and your child is not old enough to have the immunisation, you will be asked to pick up your child.
If your child has a temperature, we will administer Panadol (if permission is given on your enrolment form, we will always call to confirm) if the temperature remains above 37.5, you will be asked to come and collect them. You will be asked to collect your child if they have any other illness deemed infectious or if your child is deemed too unwell for care. For any infectious diseases, a medical certificate will be required before your child can attend the centre. if a child is unwell, they are required to stay at home for a 24-hour period since their last symptom.
In case of an accident or illness, parents will be informed via phone call, and a form will be left at the reception desk for you to sign.
Medication is to be signed in and handed over at the reception desk. A medication form is to be filled in correctly and the medication labelled with the child’s name or medication cannot be administered. At the end of the day, you can collect the medication from reception and sign the medication form to acknowledge the medication was administered.
The centre will not administer any new medication that your child has not had before. The centre is not able to provide any herbal medications.
Monash Vale ELC is a registered childcare provider. You will be able to claim Government benefits relating to your childcare.
A full week fee will be required on the last day of orientation. Fees must be paid in advance in full and will be modified when Centrelink informs us of how much they are contributing to your fees.
Payments are to always be one week in advance.
It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure you are up to date with your payments, that you have applied for Centrelink and that your Childcare Subsidy is up to date. All correct information needs to be forwarded to the centre as soon as possible.
Fees are paid on booked care, not on attendance. If absent for any reason fees still apply.
